School of Education Undergraduate Programs
The School of Education partners with local school districts to engage at-promise students in urban schools with teacher education candidates during their matriculation through the undergraduate programs. The programs provide an array of field and clinical experiences that intersect with authentic learning, personalized learning, and student centered learning, with focus on teaching, learning, and assessment to improve learning gains. The program offers an Immersive Year-Long Residency Program in which teacher candidates are placed with mentor teachers in select partner schools. In this placement, the candidate co-teaches with their mentor over the entire school year. This opportunity provides a true-to-life teaching experience and prepares candidates to competently manage their own classrooms immediately upon graduation. The year-long co-teaching model provides the best clinical experience available for future teachers.
